Akron / Summit County CoC

Akron's youth system is one of the most developed in the YHSI cohort in terms of provider diversity, with a dedicated Youth Navigator position, a youth-specific CE hotline option, and a network of YHDP-funded partners spanning emergency, transitional, and rapid rehousing. The 2023 Point-in-Time Count identified 103 unsheltered and sheltered unaccompanied youth and 41 parenting youth — among the highest counts in Ohio. Despite that capacity, the ES waitlist consistently exceeds available beds, and there is no all-gender or LGBTQ-specific transitional housing option. The permanent housing layer is the system's strongest, anchored by 12 dedicated PSH units at Spicer Terrace and 36 RRH units across YHDP partners — but community priorities make clear that the crisis and transitional stages need significant expansion to match the demonstrated level of need.
